Bovine milk γ-glutamyltransferase (BoGGT) can produce γ-glutamyl peptides using L-glutamine as a donor substrate, and the transpeptidase activity is highly dependent on both γ-glutamyl donors and acceptors. To explore the molecular mechanism behind the donor and acceptor substrate preferences for BoGGT, molecular docking and molecular dynamic simulations were performed with L-glutamine and L-γ-glutamyl-p-nitroanilide (γ-GpNA) as donors. Ser450 is a crucial residue for the interactions between BoGGT and donors. BoGGT forms more hydrogen bonds with L-glutamine than γ-GpNA, promoting the binding affinity between BoGGT and L-glutamine. Gly379, Ile399, and Asn400 are crucial residues for the interactions between the BoGGT intermediate and acceptors. The BoGGT intermediate forms more hydrogen bonds with Val-Gly than L-methionine and L-leucine, which can promote the transfer of the γ-glutamyl group from the intermediate to Val-Gly. This study reveals the critical residues responsible for the interactions of donors and acceptors with the BoGGT and provides a new understanding of the substrate selectivity and catalytic mechanism of GGT.

Precision livestock farming technologies are used to monitor animal health and welfare parameters continuously and in real time in order to optimize nutrition and productivity and to detect health issues at an early stage. The possibility of predicting blood metabolites from milk samples obtained during routine milking by means of infrared spectroscopy has become increasingly attractive. We developed, for the first time, prediction equations for a set of blood metabolites using diverse machine learning methods and milk near-infrared spectra collected by the AfiLab instrument. Our dataset was obtained from 385 Holstein Friesian dairy cows. Stacking ensemble and multi-layer feedforward artificial neural network outperformed the other machine learning methods tested, with a reduction in the root mean square error of between 3 and 6% in most blood parameters. We obtained moderate correlations (r) between the observed and predicted phenotypes for γ-glutamyl transferase (r = 0.58), alkaline phosphatase (0.54), haptoglobin (0.66), globulins (0.61), total reactive oxygen metabolites (0.60) and thiol groups (0.57). The AfiLab instrument has strong potential but may not yet be ready to predict the metabolic stress of dairy cows in practice. Further research is needed to find out methods that allow an improvement in accuracy of prediction equations.

Xanthine oxidase (XO) has been an important target for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout. The analysis of potential interactions of pyrimidinone and 3-cyano indole pharmacophores present in the corresponding reported XO inhibitors with parts of the XO active pocket indicated that they both can be used as effective fragments for the fragment-based design of nonpurine XO inhibitors. In this paper, we adopted the fragment-based drug design strategy to link the two fragments with an amide bond to design the type 1 compounds 13a-13w,14c, 14d, 14f, 14g, 14j, 14k, and 15g. Compound 13g displayed an evident XO inhibitory potency (IC50 = 0.16 µM), which was 52.3-fold higher than that of allopurinol (IC50 = 8.37 µM). For comparison, type 2 compounds 5-(6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyrimidin-2-yl)-1H-indole-3-carbonitriles (25c-25g) were also designed by linking the two fragments with a single bond directly. The results showed that compound 25c from the latter series displayed the best inhibitory potency (IC50 = 0.085 µM), and it was 98.5-fold stronger than that of allopurinol (IC50 = 8.37 µM). These results suggested that amide and single bonds were applicable for linking the two fragments together to obtain potent nonpurine XO inhibitors. The structure-activity relationship results revealed that hydrophobic groups at N-atom of the indole moiety were indispensable for the improvement of the inhibitory potency in vitro against XO. In addition, enzyme kinetics studies suggested that compounds 13g and 25c, as the most promising XO inhibitors for the two types of target compounds, acted as mixed-type inhibitors for XO. Moreover, molecular modeling studies suggested that the pyrimidinone and indole moieties of the target compounds could interact well with key amino acid residues in the active pocket of XO. Furthermore, in vivo hypouricemic effect demonstrated that compounds 13g and 25c could effectively reduce serum uric acid levels at an oral dose of 10 mg/kg. Therefore, compounds 13g and 25c could be potential and efficacious agents for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout.

It is well known that bovine milk contains γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT) activity. To verify the identity of the GGT and further to characterize the generation of γ-glutamyl peptides, identification of GGT from bovine milk and quantification of kokumi peptides and free amino acids were performed. GGT was purified from skim milk and identified as the bovine protein (G3N2D8), and it reveals that it is composed of two subunits. Sequence alignment with human GGT and molecular mass determination showed that the bovine GGT was glycosylated and contained an N-terminal transmembrane part. Further activity characterization was performed in comparison with GGT from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens in terms of the ability to generate γ-glutamyl peptides from casein hydrolysates. During the transpeptidation reaction catalyzed by both GGT, γ-glutamyl peptides significantly (P < 0.05) increased after γ-glutamylation; addition of glutamine contributed to the generation of γ-glutamyl peptides, suggesting that glutamine could act as a γ-glutamyl donor. This study reveals that the GGT of skim milk membranes is a glycosylated membrane protein that can generate γ-glutamyl peptides.

Excessive urea in milk will lead to serious health problems. To detect whether the urea concentration in milk exceeds the standard and ensure the quality of milk, it is necessary to develop detection technology for urea in milk. But it is difficult to detect urea in milk conveniently and accurately by traditional methods. To measure the concentration of urea in milk, stable green light carbon dots (CDs) were synthesized by a one-step method as a fluorescent probe. Then, 3, 5-diaminobenzoic acid was used as the precursor for CD synthesis. Experimental results showed that CDs can generate strong fluorescence when excited by light (350-450 nm). The fluorescence peak wavelength is 490 nm, and the optimum excitation wavelength is 390 nm. The fluorescence intensity of CDs has a significant change with variations of pH (pH of 6-9), and the higher the pH, the lower the fluorescence intensity. Additionally, urea can be hydrolyzed by urease to produce ammonia and carbon dioxide. Ammonia is ionized in water to produce OH-, which increases the pH of the solution. After adding standard urea to milk, urease and CDs are added. The fluorescence intensity of CDs in the mixed solution decreases as the concentration of standard added urea increases. Thus the concentration of urea in milk can be calculated. The experimental results show that the CD method for detecting urea in milk has advantages of high sensitivity and wide measurement range. The linear interval is 25-500 mg/L, R2 is 0.998, and the limit of detection is 6.27 mg/L. The concentration of urea in the milk used in the experiment is 265.46 mg/L. CDs are easy to fabricate, and the advantages of the method are simple operation, no pretreatment, safety, and low cost. A new method for the detection of urea in milk was established, to the best of our knowledge, and this method can aid in food quality control.

Our previous work identified a promising isonicotinamide based xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor, N-(3-cyano-4-((2-cyanobenzyl)oxy)phenyl)isonicotinamide (1), and concluded that amide is an effective linker in exploring the XO inhibitor chemical space that is completely different from the five-membered ring framework of febuxostat and topiroxostat. Indole, an endogenous bioactive substance and a popular drug construction fragment, was involved in the structural optimization campaign of the present effort. After the installation of some functional groups, N-(1-alkyl-3-cyano-1H-indol-5-yl) was generated and employed to mend the missing H-bond interaction between the 3'-cyano of 1 and Asn768 residue of XO by shortening their distance. In this context, eight kinds of heterocyclic aromatic amide chemotypes were rationally designed and synthesized to investigate the structure-activity relationship (SAR) of amide-based XO inhibitors. The optimized compound a6 (IC50 = 0.018 µM) exhibits 17.2-fold improved potency than the initial compound 1 (IC50 = 0.31 µM). Its potency is comparable to that of topiroxostat (IC50 = 0.013 µM). Molecular docking and molecular dynamics studies proved the existence of the stable H-bond between the cyano group and the Asn768 residue. Moreover, oral administration of a6 (11.8 mg/kg) could effectively reduce serum uric acid levels in an acute hyperuricemia rat model. Liver microsomal stability assay illustrated that compound a6 possesses well metabolic stability in rat liver microsomes. However, the in vivo potency of a6 was much lower than that of topiroxostat, which may be explained by the poor absorption found in the parallel artificial membrane permeability assay (PAMPA). In addition, 6a has non-cytotoxicity against normal cell lines MCF10A and 16HBE. Taken together, this work culminated in the identification of compound 6a as an excellent lead for further exploration of amide-based XO inhibitors.

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) can remain in dairy products after the sterilization of milk powder and may pose a threat to the health of infants and young children. There is a large amount of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in raw milk, which can remove the phosphate bond of LPS, thus, detoxifying it. ALP is regarded as an indicator of the success of milk sterilization due to its strong heat resistance. ALP can alleviate the toxicity of LPS in enteritis and nephritis models, but the mechanism by which oral-intake of ALP protects liver tissue from LPS stimulation is unclear. In this study, an in vivo acute mouse liver injury model was induced by C. sakazakii LPS (200 µg/kg) and used to verify the protective mechanism of ALP (200 U/kg) on mice livers. The related pathways were also verified by in vitro cell culture. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), quantitative reverse transcription PCR (RT-qPCR) and western blotting were used to detect the levels of inflammatory factors at the protein level and RNA level, and to confirm the inflammation of liver tissue caused by LPS. ALP was found to alleviate acute liver injury in vitro by activating miR-146a. We found that ALP could up-regulate the level of miR146a and subsequently alleviates the expression of TLR4, TNF-α, matured IL-1ß, and NF-κB in mouse liver tissue and hepatocytes; thus, reducing liver inflammation. Herein, we demonstrated for the first time that oral-intake of ALP protected liver tissue by up-regulating the expression of miR-146a and alleviating inflammatory reactions; thus, providing a research basis for the proper processing of milk. This study also suggests that producers should improve the awareness of the protective effects of bioactive proteins in raw milk.

In this paper, a novel nanocomposite based on magnetic nanoparticles decorated by dopamine were reported. Three modified magnetic nanocomposites by dopamine were offered with different type of linkers. The mentioned magnetic nanocomposites were applied to separate α-amylase protein from fresh bovine milk. All of the magnetic nanocomposites were characterized and investigated by using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, field-emission scanning microscope, X-ray diffraction pattern, and vibrating-sample magnetometer analyses. To investigate the purifying application, sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, one-dimensional isoelectric focusing gel electrophoresis, and alpha-amylase activity assay were employed. With paying attention to factors such as yield of purification and concentration of separated protein by each of magnetic nanocomposite, it could be concluded that the length of linkers played an important role in α-amylase protein separation. According to the results, the best separation and purification of α-amylase protein with 49.83% recovery and 40.11-fold purification efficiency was related to longest length linker, 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether, because of considerable conjugation with nanocomposite. Also, docking calculation has shown that the binding energy is - 1.697 kcal/mol and ΔG = - 6.844 kcal/mol which result that the interaction process between dopamine and α-amylase protein is spontaneous.

This study focused on synthesis various dimethyl N-benzyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4,5-dicarboxylate and (N-benzyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4,5-diyl)dimethanol derivatives under the conditions of green chemistry without the use of solvent and catalysts. Their inhibition properties were also investigated on xanthine oxidase (XO) activity. All dimethanol and dicarboxylate derivatives exhibited significant inhibition activities with IC50 values ranging from 0.71 to 2.25 µM. Especially, (1-(3-bromobenzyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4,5-diyl)dimethanol (5c) and dimethyl 1-(4-chlorobenzyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4,5-dicarboxylate (6 g) compounds were found to be the most promising derivatives on the XO enzyme inhibition with IC50 values 0.71 and 0.73 µM, respectively. Moreover, the double docking procedure was to evaluate compound modes of inhibition and their interactions with the protein (XO) at atomic level. Surprisingly, the docking results showed a good correlation with IC50 [correlation coefficient (R2 = 0.7455)]. Also, the docking results exhibited that the 5c, 6f and 6 g have lowest docking scores -4.790, -4.755, and -4.730, respectively. These data were in agreement with the IC50 values. These results give promising beginning stages to assist in the improvement of novel and powerful inhibitor against XO.

Lactoperoxidase (LPO, E.C.1.11.1.7) is a natural antibacterial agent which is secreted from salivary, mammary, and other mucosal glands. It is one of the crucial enzymes in biological systems, so protection of LPO activity is extremely important for the immune system. Within the scope of this study; in vitro effects of some thiophene-2-sulfonamide derivatives (1a-7a) on bovine milk LPO enzymatic activity were investigated. LPO was purified from the Sepharose-4B-L-tyrosine-5-amino-2-methylbenzenesulfonamide column prepared using affinity chromatography technique with a yield of 169.66 EU/mg specific activity in 452.44 times. As a result, 5-(2-thienylthio) thiophene-2-sulfonamide demonstrated the strongest inhibition impact among these compounds. This molecule has shown a competitive inhibition and it was determined that the IC50 value was 3.4 nM and the Ki value was 2 ± 0.6 nM.

Milk oxidases are an integral part of milk immune system, and good indicators for milk thermal history. Current assay methods for milk oxidases are either insensitive, tedious or not cost-effective. In this study, a high-throughput fluorescence assay method for determination of xanthine oxidase (XO) and polyamine oxidase (PAO) activities in milk samples was developed. The hydrogen peroxide generated by XO catalysed oxidation of hypoxanthine, and PAO catalysed oxidation of spermine, was coupled to horseradish peroxidase conversion of Amplex® Red (1-(3,7-dihydroxyphenoxazin-10-yl)ethanone) to the fluorescent product resorufin. The assay was highly sensitive, with limits of detection of activity in milk being 3 × 10-7 and 7 × 10-7 U/mL for XO and PAO, respectively. Intra-run and inter-run results showed good assay repeatability and reproducibility. The assay was successfully applied to survey the XO and PAO activities in human, bovine, goat and camel milk samples, and it can be readily adapted for measurements of other oxidase activities.

Lactoperoxidase (LPO) is one of the major antibacterial ingredients in milk and an extensively employed indicator for milk heat treatment. The traditional method for LPO activity measurement using ABTS (2,2'-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonate) cannot achieve high sensitivity and is affected by indigenous milk thiocyanate. A more sensitive microplate fluorescent assay was developed by monitoring generation of red-fluorescent resorufin from LPO catalysed oxidation of Amplex® Red (1-(3,7-dihydroxyphenoxazin-10-yl)ethanone) in this study. The assay is particularly suitable for milk LPO activity measurement as it eliminates the influences of indigenous milk hydrogen peroxide and thiocyanate. The method limit of detection was 7.1x10-6 U/mL of LPO in milk and good intra-run and inter-run precision was obtained. The LPO activities ranked as bovine > goat > camel > human in the four types of milk analysed. The high sensitivity and low cost of this assay makes it suitable for LPO activity analyses in both laboratory and commercial scales.

This review is focused on the application of surface and volume-sensitive acoustic methods for the detection of milk proteases such as trypsin and plasmin. While trypsin is an important protein of human milk, plasmin is a protease that plays an important role in the quality of bovine, sheep and goat milks. The increased activity of plasmin can cause an extensive cleavage of ß-casein and, thus, affect the milk gelation and taste. The basic principles of surface-sensitive acoustic methods, as well as high-resolution ultrasonic spectroscopy (HR-US), are presented. The current state-of-the-art examples of the application of acoustic sensors for protease detection in real time are discussed. The application of the HR-US method for studying the kinetics of the enzyme reaction is demonstrated. The sensitivity of the acoustics biosensors and HR-US methods for protease detection are compared.

The objective of this research is to determine whether intramammary antibiotics with complementary acupuncture can reduce bovine mammary inflammation due to subclinical mastitis. Lactating cows were selected based on milk with a somatic cell count (SCC) greater than 500,000 cells/ml. Pre- and post-treatment milk samples were collected to determine SCC, aerobic bacterial content, milk ion conductivity, total protein, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase (NAGase) concentrations. Milk serum was prepared from milk samples by double centrifugation. Concentrations of LDH and NAGase were determined using commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Cows being treated with intramammary antibiotics were separated by random assignment to the acupuncture group (n = 10) and a no-acupuncture (control) group (n = 9). Both the acupuncture and control group were restrained for 30 min in a head catch 12 hr apart for a total of four times. For front quarters affected by subclinical mastitis, the acupuncture points used were spleen (SP) 12, SP 17, SP 18, SP 21, stomach (ST) 18 and conception vessel (CV) 12. For rear quarters affected by subclinical mastitis, the acupuncture points used were bladder (BL) 30, BL 30-1, BL 49, kidney (KI) 10, conception vessel (CV) 2 and CV 3. All parameters were compared using a Student t test. Significance was defined as p < .05. Compared to control cows, complementary acupuncture treatment reduced NAGase enzymatic activity in quarters of cows with subclinical mastitis. The reduction in NAGase suggests that complementary acupuncture treatment may be associated with healing of the damaged mammary epithelial cells, which are the primary source of NAGase activity in milk serum.

Detection of subclinical mastitis (SCM) in its initial stage can save great economic losses, improve milk quality and animal welfare. We have developed a semiquantitative lateral flow assay for the detection of SCM in dairy cows targeting myeloperoxidase (MPO) enzyme of milk neutrophils. A competitive immunoassay format was used, and colloidal gold nanoparticles (GNP) were prepared and used as a labelling agent. Monoclonal anti-MPO antibodies were used and assessed for its quality by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and dot blot. Conjugation method for GNP and anti-MPO antibodies was standardised, and the conjugate was placed over the conjugate pad. MPO coupled with a carrier protein (OVA) and the species-specific secondary antibodies were placed on test and control lines, respectively. The developed assay was verified with 75 milk samples collected from healthy, SCM and clinical mastitis cows. It displayed a high sensitivity as it could detect MPO as low as 1.5 ng/ml, an accuracy greater than 97% and showed no crossreactivity when crosschecked with other milk proteins. The developed assay can be used as an alternative for SCM diagnostic tests where lab structure are available for obtaining the lysate of milk SCC.

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is the most widely used marker of the adequacy of milk pasteurization since it is inactivated at temperatures slightly higher than those required for elimination of pathogens. The cutoff level is 350 mU/L. The approved colorimetric, fluorometric, and chemiluminometric methods require specialized readers with photomultipliers as detectors, and the samples are usually analyzed one-by-one. We developed a low-cost mix-and-read method that exploited a smartphone or a common digital camera as detectors for the chemiluminometric determination of ALP in milk. As samples, we used pasteurized cow and sheep milk spiked with ALP, as well as mixtures of pasteurized and raw (non-pasteurized) milk. Chemiluminescence images acquired by the smartphone or the digital camera were analyzed by the ImageJ software. The limits of detection (LODs), for images captured by the smartphone, were 4.4 mU/L and 11.1 mU/L for cow milk and sheep milk, respectively, while with the digital camera, the respective LODs were 6.2 mU/L and 6.7 mU/L, respectively. The coefficients of variation (CVs) at the cutoff level of 350 mU/L were 8% and 8.5% for the cow and sheep milk, respectively. For images by the digital camera, the CVs were 5.8% and 5% for cow and sheep milk, respectively. The performance of the method is similar to methods that use a microtiter plate and a luminometer for chemiluminescence measurements. Sample pretreatment is not necessary. The microtiter well format combined with detection by a smartphone enables the analysis of multiple samples simultaneously. It is anticipated that the method will prove useful for the rapid assessment of milk pasteurization efficiency in dairy industries, especially in remote areas where expensive instruments are not available. The aim of this study was to investigate the gelling behavior of proteins in bio-tofu (soymilk-cow milk mixture gel) coagulated by microbial transglutaminase (MTGase) combined with lactic acid bacteria (LAB). It was shown that MTGase (3.0 U/g protein) treatment of soymilk-cow milk mixture (SCMM) could not induce gelation at 43℃ even if the incubation was lasting 4 h. However, the concomitant use of LAB (0.025 UC/L) along with MTGase could induce the formation of denser and finer gel network with smaller pores and higher storage modulus (G') compared to SCMM treated with only LAB. Electrophoresis and mass spectrometry results indicated that LAB improve MTGase-dependent polymerization of proteins. In addition, this study investigates the effect of LAB and MTGase treatment on the rheology behavior of the derived gel products. In general, the use of both bio-coagulants for the manufacture of a mixed protein gel, might open new horizons in the field of novel nutrional and functional foods.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the proteolytic process in Caciocavallo cheese obtained from Friesian cows fed zinc, selenium, and iodine supplementation. Thirty-six Friesian cows, balanced for parity, milk production, and days in milk, were randomly assigned to four groups. The control group (CG) was fed with a conventional feeding strategy, while the three remaining groups received a diet enriched with three different trace elements, respectively zinc (ZG), selenium (SG), and iodine (IG). At the end of the experimental period, samples of milk were collected and used to produce Caciocavallo cheese from each experimental group. Cheese samples were then analyzed after 7 and 120 days from the cheese making in order to obtain information on chemical composition and extent of the proteolytic process, evaluated through the electrophoretic analysis of caseins and the determination of volatiles profile. Both milk and cheese samples were richer in the amount of the microelement respectively used for the integration of the cattle's diet. The zymographic approach was helpful in evaluating, in milk, the proteolytic function performed by endogenous metalloenzymes specifically able to degrade gelatin and casein; this evaluation did not highlight significant differences among the analyzed samples. In cheese, the electrophoretic analysis in reducing and denaturing condition showed the marked ability of ß-casein to resist the proteolytic action during ripening, whereas the dietary selenium supplementation was shown to perform a protective action against the degradation of S1 and S2 isoforms of α-casein. The analysis of the volatile profile evidenced the presence of compounds associated with proteolysis of phenylalanine and leucine. This approach showed that selenium was able to negatively influence the biochemical processes that lead to the formation of 3-methyl butanol, although the identification of the specific mechanism needs further investigation.

The hypothesis of the study was that feeding a relatively low amount of Se biofortified alfalfa hay during the dry period and early lactation would improve selenium status and glutathione peroxidase activity in dairy cows and their calves. Ten Jersey and 8 Holstein primiparous dairy cows were supplemented with Se biofortified (TRT; n = 9) or non-biofortified (CTR; n = 9) alfalfa hay at a rate of 1 kg/100 kg of BW mixed with the TMR from 40 d prior parturition to 2 weeks post-partum. Se concentration in whole blood, liver, milk, and colostrum, the transfer of Se to calves, and the glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity were assessed. TRT had 2-fold larger (P < 0.05) Se in blood v. CTR that resulted in larger Se in liver and colostrum but not milk and larger GPx activity in plasma and erythrocytes but not in milk. Compared to CTR, calves from TRT had larger Se in blood but only a numerical (P = 0.09) larger GPx activity in plasma. A positive correlation was detected between Se in the blood and GPx activity in erythrocytes and plasma in cows. Our results demonstrated that feeding pregnant primiparous dairy cows with a relatively low amount of Se-biofortified alfalfa hay is an effective way to increase Se in the blood and liver, leading to greater antioxidant activity via GPx. The same treatment was effective in improving Se concentration in calves but had a modest effect on their GPx activity. Feeding Se biofortified hay increased Se concentration in colostrum but not in milk.

The aim of the present study was to investigate inline lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) dynamic changes based on different cow factors - different number and stages of lactation, milk yield, and the status of reproduction in clinically healthy dairy cows. In the Herd Navigator system, LDH activity levels (µmol/min per litre) were measured using dry-stick technology. A total of 378 cows were selected. According to their reproductive status, the cows were classified as belonging to the following groups: Fresh (1 - 44 days after calving); Open (45 - 65 days after calving); Inseminated (1 - 35 days after insemination); Pregnant (35 - 60 days after insemination and pregnant). According to their productivity, the cows were classified into the following groups: ⟨15 kg/day, 15 - 25 kg/day, 25 - 35 kg/day and >35 kg/day. The cows were milked with a DeLaval milking robot (DeLaval Inc. Tumba Sweden) in combination with a Herd Navigator analyser (Lattec I/S. Hillerød Denmark). In conclusion inline dynamic changes in the milk LDH concentration may increase together with the rise in the lactation period frequency. The highest LDH level determinated in the group of the fresh cows ranged from 5 to 10 DIM, while the highest LDH concentration level was found in the fresh cow milk. Thus, there was a positive relationship between the milk concentration of LDH and the milk yield.
